Let’s forget the fact that being trumped leaves me feeling overpowered and being clintoned sounds like I’ve been gutted.  Am I the only one who thinks our election year has turned into some kind of weird reality show titled “The Emperor Has No Sense”?  Just like the favorite children’s story from Hans Christian Andersen, “The Emperor’s New Clothes” our Emperor candidates are letting it all hang out and just daring us to vote without stating the obvious:  Um……but……THE EMPEROR HAS NO SENSE!!! The Referendum

I am amazed at just how much I am feeling the result of the Referendum in the UK on whether to remain in the EU or not.  I feel like I was the subject of the Referendum: yes/no, stay/go, be happy/be devastated.  We knew the likely outcome when we went to bed last night and woke up this morning well into a day that was described many English friends as “a black day for Britain”.  I feel connected to them all both by our friendships and the feelings of dismay, the X-factor that is the messiness of withdrawal, and the sense that the world as a whole is entering a mighty river of...

Politics As (un) Usual

“Allowing non-citizen’s to vote??!  What?!  Did I hear that right?”  I was certain I misread a news feed but, sadly, it was true.  There is a growing push in some quarters to legalize voting for non-citizens in the USA.  Apparently it has already begun in California while I was busy preparing for a our daughter’s wedding last fall.
