10. Day 24: Go As Far As You Can See….

Fear is akin to a creeping darkness that dulls your vision slowly until you can’t go another step forward in the dark.  It is the dark that calls for light.  We want light so we can see.  But what about seeing in the dark?  For this there was the saying my Mother used to have that she would repeat on appropriate occasions. Usually those occasions were ones that faith, trust and willingness-to-wait were needed.  The full saying is: Go as far as you can see, when you get there you will see farther. She even had this engraved on a silver Paul Revere bowl to celebrate my Dad finishing...

10. Day 23: Someone Radically Blessed

I have always felt blessed throughout my life.  Even in the desert times, the uncertain times or the plainly ridiculous God-you’ve-got-to-be-kidding-? times.  I am not unfamiliar with both blessing and feeling blessed.  Yesterday, though, I read my current favorite book, “A Year Without Fear” and came across a wonderful new edge to my view of blessing.  The quote was a reminder that our own preciousness is far more powerful and less compromised when we do not judge others.  Of course none of us see ourselves as judging others but I was exposed to the nub because though I...

10. Day 22: She Went Home Four Years Ago Today

“My Mother, My Self” Some times the grieving goes on for years before the last goodbye. Here’s God’s honest truth; I rarely miss her (and I have been known to miss anything from the...

10. Day 21: A-Z of Fear

Fear in all it’s glorious forms and colors is all that stands in our way from being aware of Love’s Divine Presence all the time.  There is no need to fear fear itself.  Fear is nothing more than a contraction, a sharp intake of breath, a collapsing of thought.  The more I shine the light on my fears the more they just seem like different coloring crayons used for shading, drama and spark.  Still.  Fear usually feels like anything from mild unpleasantness to abject misery.  Use this A-Z guide to see if there is something you might be experiencing that could use a little love...

10. Day 20: When Silence Calls

10. Day 20: When Silence Calls

I love fog.  It is a visible quiet, a presence that surrounds and muffles.  Yesterday it added to a day that needed simple things; ironing, dishes washed, beds made, letters written.  I noticed that each task was a meditation of sorts.  A singular action I could focus on and fall in behind in meditation.  My deep need for meditative silence was calling me in every way it could. Eventually I listened and put down my tools of housekeeping and gave myself up to the silence alone. “I Had A Dream” I finally gave in to the silence which had been calling to me all day Be here with me...
