This blog is calling my bluff. Or rather my heart is. I was truly called to begin this daily blogging practice of extending love to my epic fears and writing about my experience. I have, obviously, been practicing a great deal of honesty all along these past months by virtue of the fact if you write every day it is hard to avoid honesty. But I still fear honesty in certain situations. Honesty is a very simple way to “BE HERE NOW”. We can get very fancy and write blogs and books about Being Here Now but honesty does it for us. If we are willing.
One of the ways my blog has already prepared me (even thought I wasn’t totally aware of this) to look at my fear of honesty is in looking at my thoughts. My thoughts are a riot. Really. Constant, fabulous, terrifying, amazing, awful, beautiful, ugly…….well, you get the idea. In extending love to my thoughts I had to notice my thoughts. It is incredibly powerful just to notice. My friend Bartholomew had quite a bit to say about noticing thoughts so I wanted to share this quote.
“There is a tremendous amount of excitement in the play of dualities until you begin to pay attention to the contents of them. Once you do, you will become aware of the repetition. Most of the content is based on future or past, re doing, re saying or re thinking. This kind of focus lacks grounding power as you swing between poles of duality.
Grounding is done in the moment. Grounding gives you a feeling of deep security and safety.
To whatever degree you have placed the responsibility for your feelings of love and wholeness on someone else, is the degree to which you are bound to disappointment. There is only one place where dependable love is found, and that place is within you where Love and Light await your awareness.
The quality of your state of consciousness is your responsibility. It takes outer stillness to enable you to become aware of your inner power. To be committed to moving through the world’s polarities and resting in the wholeness of Heart you must practice stillness OVER and OVER.
You need to allow all of your Wholeness to reveal itself to you silently and intensely.”—–Reflections of an Elder Brother, by Bartholomew p. 13
This is one of the many powers of honesty, it grounds you instantly to what is. That grounding gives you a feeling of deep security and safety. The feeling of security and safety allow you to remember you are LOVE. True honesty connects you automatically to the truth of your heart. When we try to avoid honesty, in an attempt to avoid what we feel is surely hurtful, we end up avoiding the one thing that will truly heal, help, transform and comfort: the truth.
